2009-04-15 9U Flames Receive Berth to Disney Elite 32
The 9U Flames headed to Atlanta to try and qualify for the Disney Elite 32 at the Atlanta Super NIT. Due to bad weather they only had one outdoor practice under their belt, but the Flames seemed ready to play some of the best competition in the South. The field was loaded with talent including 5 of Travelballselects top 10 teams in the nation. After pool play the Flames were seeded #5 in the 28 team single elimination tournament. The Flames beat the Alabama Bounty Hunters 8-5, the Elite Attack 10-4, The Georgia Yard Dogs 10-3, and Team East Cobb 7-6 in the semis before losing in the Championship game to the #1 team in the nation, the Florida Mizuno Glory.
As a result of their performance, the 9U Cincy Flames and the Florida Mizuno Glory were awarded two berths to the Disney Elite 32 in Orlando Florida at the Wide World of Sports Complex in August. The 9U Flames are currently ranked #4 in the nation by Travelballselect.com.
